How do you know if you have a problem with drinking or drug use? It can sometimes be difficult to tell if what you are experiencing are the signs of substance abuse or dependency. Some questions you can ask yourself are:

  •  Have you ever tried to or felt that you should cut down on your drinking or drug  use?
  •  Have you ever felt annoyed or irritated by others criticizing your drinking or drug use?
  •  Have you ever felt guilty about your using habits?
  •  Have you ever had to drink or use first thing in the morning as an "eye-opener" to get going and start your day?

If you answered yes to some or all of these questions, you may have an issue with drinking or drug use. An addiction can take over your life and the toughest challenge can be facing it in treatment.

If you or someone you love seems to be experiencing issues with drinking or drug use, we offer a variety of treatment programs at the Institute for Human Resources that are licensed by the Illinois Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. You can find out more about the services we offer by clicking the links to the left. To contact us to schedule an appointment, please call 815-844-6109.
