Prevention Services:

School prevention programming through-out Livingston County includes Project Alert and Botvin’s Life Skills. 

  • Project Alert teaches students

    • Why some people use drugs

    • Why most people don’t

    • How to recognize the pressure on teens to use drugs

    • How to resist these pressures. 

  • The Life Skills program has three major components that cover the issues found to reduce high risk behaviors including

    • Drug resistance skills

    • Personal self-management skills

    • Social skills

  Both of these programs are FREE to any school in Livingston County.

The name originates from the idea, if I have a positive impact on you; you can have a positive impact on someone else and the effect Snowballs. 

Operation Snowball

  • Is an alcohol and other drug use community-based prevention program that

    • Focuses on leadership development to promote youth to lead drug-free lives 

    • Spotlights on the negative effects of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and the impact drugs have on them, their family, and their friends 

  • Shall be a youth and adult partnership

  • Provide awareness and prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use

  • Encourage healthy decision-making in an active community of caring

 Operation Snowball's Mission:

  • Is through the development of leadership skills

Yearly events are planned for all Livingston County 4th through 8th grade students.  If you are interested in being an adult volunteer for this drug-free program please email the substance abuse program at substanceabuse@ihrpontiac.com.
